A Closer Look, at chapter 1, and the Alpha and the Omega

The focus of this page is to point out who is who, and who said what in the Book of Revelation. This is because so many people, mostly the trtinitarians, are claiming Jesus to be God and they often use the first chapter in Revelation to make that claim. Yet Revelation doesn't make any such claim at all like that. It all boils down to who said what about what to show what a person should believe and understand, and what they should not.

In recent times I have learned many people are using the Red Letter Bible to read Revelation, and they need to stop. I gave up reading it 30-35 years ago, because I found discrepancies in it and I have not read from it since. I found words spoken by others that are in Red Letters, and it will deceive you if you are not careful. People continue to read it on a daily bases, but have not yet seen the discrepancies like I did. As such, they rely on it as "proof to them" of what Jesus said. As such, it becomes a battle when I explain who really said what, and people then thnk I am totally wrong.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants-things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Rev 1:1-2

This book starts off with this: The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him. Clearly God gave this revelation to his son Jesus. Therefore, even at the beginning we see there is a separation of who is who and see that God is completely seprate of Jesus as he hands the revelation to him

Jesus then takes the information and hands it to and angel to go down to earth and show the apostle John. "And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John. This means it was the angel who spoke to John throughout most of Revelation. It also means Three are involved here, God, Jesus, and the angel.

1:4 John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,

Now pay attention to this next verse: 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

And pay special attention to this verse: 1:6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Rev 1:4-6

Did anyone catch what's in that last verse? "to His God and Father." This is the samething Jesus said in John 20:17 where he told Mary he was ascending to HIS God and HIS Father.

but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God."

Clearly this shows us that Jesus himself has a Father and he has a God. So there is no reason for anyone to say Jesus is God because this clearly shows that he is not.

John then goes on to describe what Jesus himself said many times, and that is that he will return with the clouds.

1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Now notice it ends with an Amen, and so did the previous verse. "Amen" means the end. stop, don't go any further, and so on. This means there is a subject change or something said has ended. And this leads us into the next verse.

1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Clearly John is saying the Alpha and the Omega is God Almighty. This is John speaking here, it is not the angel, nor is it Jesus, nor is it God. John is speaking this on his own as a prelude to what he is about say and show what he was shown. And he says very clearly the Alpha and the Omega is God Almighty. Which means it is not Jesus.

If you have a Red Letter Bible, notice "I am the Alpha and the Omega," is not in red letters here in this verse. This is because Louis Klopsch (1852-1910), who first wrote the Red Letter bible in 1899 must have also realized it was John speaking this and not Jesus. So it was left in plan letters.

In verses 9 and 10, John is just elaborating on where he was and what he was doing when the revelation first came to him.

1:9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

Angels speak in the "voice" of a trumpet, or a voice that sounds like a trumpet is a more modern way to say it. Jesus doesn't use this kind of voice, and neither does God. Therefore, it was the Angel Jesus sent down to John who spoke the next verse.

1:11 saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."

The angel starts off with the Alpha and Omega, which we know is God Almighty, and then adds a phrase "the First and the Last." Most people will say this is the same phrase Jesus says further on in verse 1:17 and claim that is also a connection showing Jesus is God. But it is not.

Never in my life have I ever heard someone explain the First and the Last properly in the Book of Revelation. But did you know it is in the Old Trestament? First and Last is very common phrase of the Old Testament. Here are some examples:

Now the acts of King David, first and last, indeed they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, 1 Chr 29:29.
Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan . . . 2 Chr 9:29.
The acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, 2 Chr 12:15
Note that the acts of Asa, first and last, are indeed written in the book of the kings . . . 2 Chr 16:11.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, indeed they are written in the book of Jehu . . . 2 Chr 20:34.

First and Last is a Written Record of what someone has done in the Old Testament. Therefore, Frist and Last is what John is doing when he writes the Book of Revelation. The Phrase has absolutley no referral or meaning towards God, or being a God. Another verse out of the Old Testament that is used in conjuntion, is this one:

"Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: 'I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God." Isa 44:6

There we see that God Almighty in Rev 1:8 has claimed the same title and position found in Isa 44:6. He is the First and the Last, and he is God Almighty in both cases. This is where we find the error in Rev 1:11 being put into Red Letters. Obviously this is God speaking and not Jesus. And we know this because of the phrase "the Alpha and the Omega," which John previously stated was indeed God Almighty. Now compare and read this below.

"saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,"

"saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,"

Which version has predispossed your mind to think it is Jesus, and which one hasn't? The one written in Red Letter has of course. This is why I say not to use a Red Letter Bible when reading the Book of Revelation as it will pre-set your mind on Jesus , when it should be on God.

Louis Klopsch, dispite his best intentions, has inadvertainly fed into the hands of Satan and brought on a great deception in the Book of Revelation. And because most people will never catch this, they will believe it and tell others to believe it, that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega.

John then turns and see's what I call a vision. The way to know this is a vision, is because Jesus is in heaven and John is down here on earth. Jesus did not come down to earth. Also, the angle who is standing right next to John could have brought this to him as well.

1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
1:13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.

John then goes on to describe him.

1:14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;
1:15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;
1:16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

I think there is no doubt that all of the things describng what John saw describes Jesus. What happens next is somewhat confusing if you don't put people, God, and the angel in the right places.

1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 1:18 "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

So I will put them in the right place now. First of all, we know that Jesus was handed his own revelation from God. We also know that Jesus then gave it to an angel to go and talk to John and reveal it to him. Therefore, we know it was not Jesus who laid his right hand on John, but it was the angel, and so then we know it was the angel who John bowed down to.

The angel then delivers the message: "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen."

While we could jump back up to where God called himself the First and the Last, and claim it was God the angel was talking about, we won't, because this time it was spoken for Jesus and not for God. This is because the angel said: "I am He who lives, and was dead," and, "I am alive forevermore."

Jesus died on the cross. Therefore, "I am He who lives, and was dead," is talking about him. Namely, because God never died on the cross, his son Jesus did. And the other reason is because once Jesus was resurrected, he will never face death again. Therefore, he is alive for evermore.

The First and the Last I have already explained. It's a history of what a perosn has done. In this case, Jesus lived, died, and was resurrected. That was his First and Last, until he returns again. What this also tells us is that those words should not be written in Red Letters.

In Rev 21:6, we see the "I am the Alpha and the Omega" again. This one is not hard to figure out who said it and it shows where John got his information from to write 1:8. This is because of the previous verse, and it goes like this:

21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

That is God's throne, and does not belong to Jesus. Rev 12:5 shows Jesus being taken up to the "THRONE OF GOD when he was born in heaven. But notice once again, like before in 1:8, 21:6 is not in Red Letters. This again signifies it is not talking about Jesus, even in the Red Letter Bible. It is God and that's why it's not in Red Letters.

This means that Louis Klopsch knew this was God, and so have others since then as they have no changed it over the years. God cannot be Jesus one minute and God the next, or vice versa.

Moving on; the last time we see the Alpha and the Omega spoken is in Rev 22:13. However, we are back at the angel speaking this time and we still haven't seen where Jesus said it at all. Despite other verses showing it was not Jesus who said this, 22:13 is in Red Letters. Therefore, this should not be in Red Letters either.

22:6 Then he said to me, "These words are faithful and true." And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

The angel then continues talking to John and was quoting Jesus, and it is the angel who speaks verse 22:16 to John. Even though in a Red Letter Bible it is Red Letters, it still shouldn't be because it was the angel who was talking to John and not Jesus. But at least it was quoting Jesus.

22:16 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star."

John then bowed down to the angel in the next verse and was told not to do it. The angel continues talking to John until the last verse in Rev 22, where John then finishes the Book with: "Even so, come, Lord Jesus!." The angel ended his words at the "Amen" in 22:20.

22:20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

So who is it that is coming quickly then? Well, they both said it, that is God and Jesus both wanted it relayed to John by the angel, but the phrase commonly refers to God more than Jesus. God said it in 1:8 as "who is to come." Jesus said it in 3:11, and God said it again in 22:12, and again in 22:20.

Here's how it works. Jesus is going to return to earth and set up a new kingdom. When he does this, God will be more vocal to us and us to him. So the spirit of God will be present once again, but invisible to us. While Jesus will be visible to us as he lives in his flesh body. It will be just as it was when Jesus was here before, where Jesus is here in the flesh, and God is in heaven still looking like a "jasper and a sardius stone in appearance" [Rev 4:3].

John 16:27 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;

Meaning that we will ask God directly and not have to go through Jesus and ask him to intervene. The bottom line to all of this is to show that Jesus is not God, and to show he is not the Alpha and the Omega. God is coming quickly, and so is Jesus. And each have a First and a Last.

Some of you will understand this straight off. I know because I have explained this to people and they had no problem understandng it right away. Others may take awhile, depending on how easy they can understand, and how hard Satan is trying to take it all away. Not everyone thinks the same or at the same rate, but a person who is really searching should evetually understand it.

God is the Alpha and the Omega, not Jesus. Both Jesus and God have a First and Last. Both Jesus and God will be present after the return of Jesus. Jesus will be here on earth, and God will be in heaven. Just as before.
